Neuhaus Education Center Appoints New Chief Academic Officer

BELLAIRE, Texas – Neuhaus Education Center, a non-profit organization committed to promoting reading success for all, proudly announces the promotion of Dr. Catherine Hungerford Scott, CALT, Reading Specialist, to Chief Academic Officer, effective May 8. In her new role, Dr. Scott will lead the programming side of Neuhaus including the departments of Professional Development and Certification, Curriculum and Instructional Design, Academic Research, Family Support, and Adult Literacy.

She has leveraged curriculum design as a visionary by activating technology to extend the reach of our learning organization. Dr. Scott has been instrumental in leading the Curriculum and Instructional Design team since 2019 as Vice President of Curriculum, Instructional Design and Research. During her tenure, she helped create a new dyslexia certification program that is accredited through the International Dyslexia Association and oversaw the new literacy program, Structured Reading and Spelling, written specifically for teachers of high school students and adults. Dr. Scott’s commitment to Neuhaus began in 2003 when she took her first class at Neuhaus EducationCenter as a classroom teacher. “It was the first professional development I had attended as an educator where it clicked about how I was supposed to teach reading,” said Dr. Scott. She joined Neuhaus in 2008 as part of the Instructional Staff after getting her certification as a dyslexia therapist and has worked in curriculum development since 2012. “I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be part of Neuhaus Education Center. This organization gave me the knowledge to be a better teacher because I understood why my students were struggling with reading and I learned what to do about it.”
